MV series - vertical machining centers with moving column enabling maximum flexibility.

The vertical machining centers with moving column and fixed table, MV2, MV3 and MV4 by EIKON have been designed to obtain the maximum rigidity and the maximum reliability. They are particularly suitable for manufacturing complex pieces that require precision machining but at the same time they have the strength to be used as powerful milling machines.

These machines are ideal for use by companies who have already had experience of conventional vertical machining centres and are looking for the next step for productivity and continuous production. The machines are designed to allow a pendulum non-stop manufacturing system that eliminates idle time caused by loading and unloading therefore maximizing the use of the machine whether for the production of medium-large size batches or small lots of various pieces. Another benefit is the outstanding longitudinal X axis travel values. The full X axis the machines have a usable work surface from 1,500 up to 2,000 mm. in length making the machines ideal for longer workpieces without comparable increases in Y and Z axes.

The latest computer aided technology has produced a machine frame which guarantees stability and rigidity even under heavy working conditions. The x-y-z feed is obtained by brushiess AC servo motors connected with high precision ball screws; for the x axis the machine has a rotary nut screw.

The MV2, MV3 and MV4 machines can be equipped with a 12.000 rpm (ISO 40) or 24.000 rpm (HSK 63) spindle. The spindle power can reach 7,5 kW or 18.5 kW starting from 1.500 rpm. The MV3 and MV4 machines can also accept an ultra high speed 32,000 rpm spindle (HSK-E40) with special ceramic bearings. The automatic tool change, provided by a double arm and a random selection, has a 20 or 36 locations storage. The machines also have centralized coolant device supplied by an automatic pump. A secondary coolant pump ensures swarf is kept clear of the working area. Through spindle coolant is also available as an optional specification.

For highest efficiency the MV 3 and MV4 sized machines can be built with a twin spindle configuration (DS series) which gives double the output compared to the standard machine. This also features a double toolchange system with 2 x 20 (optional 36) tool positions.

The MV series can also be supplied with a wide range of CNC systems: Fanuc, Siemens and Heidenhain which enables it to be adapted to real working conditions depending on the end user's requirements.
